Hafız Ahmet Pasha Mansion

The Hafız Ahmet Pasha Mansion, located in the Kuzguncuk neighborhood of the Üsküdar district on the Bosphorus, is one of the historical seaside mansions that stands out with its elegant Ottoman architecture and impressive silhouette.
With its two-story wooden structure and zero-distance position to the shore, it adds a unique grandeur to the Bosphorus view thanks to the atmosphere of the past it reflects. This mansion, located on the Kuzguncuk shore, the pearl of the Anatolian Side, is one of the rare structures that can witness the panoramic beauty of Istanbul by providing a view of all three bridges on the Bosphorus. Especially when viewed from the deck of boats and yachts passing by the sea, this mansion, silently reflecting traces of the past with its historical texture, attracts the attention of almost everyone.

History

The Hafız Ahmet Paşa Mansion, built in the mid-19th century, was commissioned by the Ottoman statesman Köprülüzade Hafız Ahmet Pasha. Hafız Ahmet Pasha, who was one of the important figures of the era and served as the governor of Egypt from 1869 to 1870, enjoyed the unique view of the Bosphorus from this mansion. It is known that during the years of the War of Independence, the mansion was used as a secret ammunition transit base from Istanbul to Anatolia. For this reason, the building holds a special place in the history of the National Struggle.

The mansion, which survived in the Republican era, was registered as a cultural heritage in 1971 and placed under protection. However, it was completely burned to ashes in a major fire that occurred on September 9, 2006. After this unfortunate event, which led to the destruction of its wooden structure, the mansion was rebuilt and restored in accordance with its original design. Today, Hafız Ahmet Pasha Mansion maintains its place on the Bosphorus coast, having regained its former grandeur, and continues to exist as a living part of the historical heritage.
