The Tahsin Bey Mansion, located on the Yeniköy shore on the European side of the Istanbul Bosphorus, is a historical mansion that draws attention with its magnificent presence.
This structure, which stands out with its large garden and approximately 80-meter-long pier while passing through the Bosphorus by boat, is one of the largest waterfront mansions in the Bosphorus. History
In the place where Tahsin Bey Yalısı is located, there used to be the Yalı of Deaf Ahmed Bey. This old yalı was used as one of the secret headquarters of the Young Turks during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz. In the early years of the Republic, the engineer Tahsin Uzel, known by the nickname 'King of Dams', bought this property and had the existing Tahsin Bey Mansion built. Tahsin Uzel also bought the neighboring yalı, demolished both of them, and had a single large yalı constructed; thus, he created a sea front approximately 80 meters long. The yalı also took its name from this enterprising businessman Tahsin Bey.
After the death of Tahsin Uzel, the mansion passed into the hands of many famous individuals over time. Among the owners of the mansion in the second half of the 20th century were Kemal Ilıcak, the owner of the Tercüman newspaper, and later businessman Erol Aksoy. Due to financial issues, the structure was seized by the state for a period, and in 2004, it was purchased for 14.8 million US dollars by Haluk Dinçer and Suzan Sabancı Dinçer at an auction. Today, the Tahsin Bey Mansion, which belongs to the Sabancı family, continues to be used as a private property.
