Çırağan Palace was built between 1871 and 1876 during the reign of Sultan Abdulaziz and was used during the last periods of the Ottoman Empire. The palace got its name from the lamps called "Çırağan" lit around it. Çırağan Palace was mostly damaged as a result of a major fire in 1910, and the Palace was reopened after the restoration works carried out in the 1980s.
