Fehime Sultan Mansion is located on the European side of the Bosphorus, on the coast of Ortaköy in the Besiktas district. It is also known as Naime Sultan Mansion and Gazi Osman Pasha Mansion.
History of Fehime Sultan Mansion
Fehime Sultan Mansion was built by Sultan Abdulhamid II in 1876 and gifted to Gazi Osman Pasha, the hero of the Battle of Pleven in 1883. For this reason, it was called Gazi Osman Pasha Mansion for a while.
When he married Kemalettin Pasha, the son of Gazi Osman Pasha, and Naime Sultan, the daughter of Abdulhamid II, the mansion was called Naime Sultan Mansion.
In 1901, when the mansion was gifted to Fehime Sultan, the daughter of Murad V, Fehime Sultan Mansion was used as the name.
After being used as an orphanage and tobacco warehouse after Fehime Sultan was exiled in 1924, it served as Gazi Osman Pasha Secondary School for many years. In the great fire that broke out in 2002, Gazi Osman Paşa Secondary School was seriously damaged.
Fehime Sultan Mansion will continue to serve as a boutique hotel after the restorations it has undergone.
