The wide balcony and elegant columns of the mansion, built in Neo-Baroque style, evoke admiration from those passing over the water at first glance. Thanks to the majestic appearance it adds to the Bosphorus silhouette, the Mısırlı Fuat Bey Mansion leaves an unforgettable impression on both local and foreign visitors.

History

The mansion known to have been built in the late 18th century during the Ottoman period was commissioned by one of the prominent Greek banker families of the era, the Şişmanoğlu Family. The mansion is named after Mısırlı Fuat Bey (Eyüp Paşazade Fuat Bey), who was the son-in-law of Sultan II. Abdülhamid and lived in this magnificent residence for a time. In the following years, the mansion changed hands several times and became the residence of various owners such as Mısırlı İhsan Bey, the Baltacıoğlu Family, the Murat Rodoplu Family, and the Boronkay Family. The building, also referred to as Baltacıoğlu Mansion, was ultimately purchased in the 1980s by businessman Mustafa Özkan. Under Özkan's ownership, the mansion underwent a comprehensive restoration, being renovated from a severely dilapidated state to reach the present day. The wooden façade elements in Neo-Baroque style have been preserved, and the roof has been completely renewed with copper cladding. Today, the Yalı of Mısırlı Fuat Bey is under private ownership, captivating those who see it from the outside, and continues to exist as an important example of civil architecture registered in the cultural heritage of the Bosphorus.
