Beyazcıyan Mansion

Beyazcıyan Mansion

As you glide through the Bosphorus by boat, the White Mansion catches the eye with its elegant architecture and subtle details by the water.
This historic building, located immediately south of the famous Sait Halim Pasha Mansion on the Yeniköy coast, creates an impressive silhouette on the shore alongside the two wooden yalıs. Built as a three-story structure, the yalı features decorations bearing traces of art nouveau style; although its street-facing facade is quite simple, the sea-facing facade is adorned with ornate balconies and an impressive dock entrance. The grandeur of Beyazcıyan Yalı reflecting from the shore evokes the elegance of 19th century Istanbul to the visitors passing through the Bosphorus.

History

The Beyazcıyan Mansion takes its name from the Beyazcıyan family, its founder. Built in the mid-19th century by the Ottoman Armenian businessman Mıgırdıç Beyazcıyan, the mansion remained the property of the Beyazcıyan family for many years. By the time of the Republic, the mansion changed hands and came under the ownership of businessman İzzet Bayraktar and was registered as a historical monument by the Ministry of Culture's High Council for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage in 1971.

The Beyazcıyan Mansion, which deteriorated over time, was demolished by İzzet Bayraktar in 1992 and rebuilt in accordance with its original form. Thanks to this extensive renovation, the mansion has reached the present day while preserving its historical texture. Today, the Beyazcıyan Mansion is maintained as a private property of the Bayraktar family and can be viewed from the outside. The historic mansion continues to adorn the Yeniköy coast with all its splendor, reminding Istanbul residents of the grandeur of the past.
